A Journey Through Time: The Restoration and Revival of a Historic building

The Artillery Barracks form an architectural complex divided into six pavilions, each serving a distinct cultural or educational purpose. Currently, Pavilion 3 houses the Municipal Library “Río Segura,” Pavilion 4 hosts the Museum and Aquarium of the University of Murcia, Pavilions 5 and 6 have been transferred to the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, with Pavilion 5 housing the Párraga Center and CENDEAC, and Pavilion 6 housing the Professional Conservatory of Music of Murcia. Pavilions 1 and 2, the last to be renovated, are spaces for artistic and cultural production managed by the Murcia City Council. Thus, the importance of the Artillery Barracks goes beyond its historical and architectural value. This building has become a meeting point for citizens, where cultural events are held, and citizen participation is encouraged. It is a space that promotes creativity and the exchange of ideas.
